Hi, I would like to try and improve the look and feel of this site before Google gives it a PR rating as it is fairly new still. I would most welcome any ideas and suggestions. I have been on the DP forums a while now and I have helped a lot of people on here from time to time. I really like this site and want it to do well for me (not just in Adsense). I really want to sell cars!! Here's the site http://www.fleetcars.info Thank you in advance. Col P.S BTW there will be a directory replacing the resources page soon.
Hello warrior, hmm try to add some content on main page making it more attractive like adding some car pictures. secondly if possible ( i know its really boring job) but add some description for each car in some good colors n not simply black. alt attributes are missing in all pictures in About Us page.. make the content go in 2 paragraphs and add adsense ads if you want to let go your visitors to other site and want to earn from clicks. I would really say to change font style to Verdana i think it will really suit on car website. And yeah make title more attractive like Prestigious used cars for sale or something like that. lastly if you can change banner color than also it would really change looks of your website
I wouldn't put any ads on a website of a retail business, it now really looks a lot like an MFA site or at least some kind of site/business directory. On the layout: Try to get the left margin back, this doesn't read very easily. Also, making the navigation links a little more bigger and prominent would increase the experience imo.
I dont think Google's PR depends on your site design. It depends on the number of sites linking to your website.
Hi, Replace "your link here" from sendmail to a page which lists the benefits of advertising on your website. say "Business Promotion for you!" in link text. Do a new header with a very attractive car in it at an angle. The one in header right now is simple horizontal. If possible, go for a darker header. When showing car images, use Italic text on top of the car image. Give the text a background which auto fills the text length. See example on my website here. Go to any internal page and notice the first white text and it's background in main content area. Then go to a tutorial page ( they have long heading lengths) and see the image fill in the space. (I'm on 800/600 screen area.) Those headings may come in one line on 1024 area. You have very attractive car images. (I saw in prestige cars). Use one or more to design a new header. You can also choose to replace the bullet in the list with an image of a car or a wheel. Personally, I think a car website will look very attractive in sleek, compressed design than full screen area. Best of luck.
All you guys have put some great ideas in my head. I thank you very very much. I really appreciate it. I just hope I am clever enough to make the changes. Especially the graphics for the banner. My developer did that one for me. Col
Too me, it's too empty. There is such thing as too simple, LOL. Drawing from my own design, I usually restrict my header logo + navigation very thin at the top, the rest are contents.
I'd say center the content with a little white space on each side. That long list of cars is a little daunting, and very barron of graphics/eye candy on either side. my 2 cents gl !
