Need info on "keyword hotspots"

I've seen this in several places and not sure what this means. I've also seen in many blog postings several words hyperlinked with a keyword -- you scroll over the word and a box comes up with a description about the underlined / hyperlinked word. Is this a hotspot keyword, and how is this technique done?

Anusha, after getting your reply, I stumbled across a blog with the exact thing I was talking about ... so I moused-over the underlined word, then clicked on the ad box "more info" link. This took me to a page from IntelliTXT (www.intellitxt.com).

What I learned was the information I have been seeking ... that it is "contextual keyword advertising" which basically locates keywords and phrases within your text and links them (double-underlined words) to relevant ads.

From what I've read so far, users find this form of advertising a less intrusive form of advertising. And, another source of revenue on our web sites and blogs.

I'm still checking it out. Would be nice to get feedback from anyone who has experienced good / bad results from this.

Be careful, though, because you can't run any contextual ads on a page that also has AdSense ads on it. (You can get away with programs like Chitika if you supply a fixed set of keywords to them.)

I happened to come across an article that contained both Google AdSense and IntelliTXT's contexual ad words. I'm going to need to investigate further on this being allowed with Google.

Anyone have more feedback on this topic?

You can also try Kontera AdLinks: www.kontera.com

It's a very simple JavaScript tag that asks our servers to analyze the content of your page, and then hyperlink keywords that have the best function of CPC and CTR. Feel free to PM me for more specifics on how the technology works.

I dont know about you but I really dont like this type of advertising.

It really annoys me and I never EVER click on the ads. I find it unlikely that it would be more profitable than Adsense.

But please prove me wrong, I am interested in different opinions.

This is like IntelliTXT, although it seemed like a simplier process. I signed up, thank you. Going to give it a try. Anyone here used Kontera AdLinks and, if so, what kind of revenue has it generated for you?

You may find this to be a good alternative to what
    you are looking for...

    www.askstewartalexander.com/unique-content.html

It certainly takes care of the linking of keywords
    inside a webpage.

    Let me know your thoughts.
