Hello DPers, It's not the usual contest for logos and banners. I am about to hold a speech soon at a public speaking contest and haven't really got time to think about it. What I want from you guys is to give me IDEAS about the speech. The main theme of the speech is SPECULATIONS ON OUR FUTURE. I need you guys NOT to write down the speech, but to give me ideas about what topics to cover, probably give me some lines that will potentially have an "impact" over the audience and to give me a title for the speech. So you can say things like: 2012, global warming, utopia, self destruction, etc and develope your ideas. I have been taking acting classes for sometime now. I don't want to write down the full speech and then learn it by heart word by word. I want to have some ideas in mind and improvise on them. Hope you guys get the point. So, write down the ideas, some lines and a title in at least 50-100 words and post them here. I will reward the best ideas that I will use with 6$ each. There will be at least 2 winners at this contest, if I like more ideas I will reward more people. I will only pay if there are at least, lets say 10 entries to this contest, which will end in a few days hopefully (I said 10 because it's an easy contest)
This is actually a very interesting theme to make a speech about. Here are my ideas, keywords you might find helpful: 1. 2012 - as a possible 'end of the world' - in relation to the Aztec calendar http://www.unexplainable.net/artman/publish/article_8881.shtml 2. Depleding of natural resources on earth - speaks for itself 3. Possible new diseases (mutants of h1n1) 4. Possible cure for cancer and other diseases that destroy humanity nowadays. 5. Further attempts on cloning. 6. Terrorism - broad theme, can be a 'milestone' to mention (9/11) 7. Overpopulation on earth - connected to depleding of natural resrouces. 8. Robots - AI, Human like androids ect 9. Device control via brain and throughts - atm there's plenty of voice recognition/control devices, thoughts one's are in development. 10. Global warming (also considering possible floods when antarctica would melt) 11. Poverty - whether it will change or not, what are the chances ect 12. Space investigation - possible new discoveries of living forms in universe/multiverse 13. Phones as implants for people - possible future 14. Colonisation - other planets, underwater 15. Aging process - possible 'immortality' discovery 16. Political and religious changes - new countries, organisations, wars (korea? terrorism?) 17. Power resources - nuclear power plants expansion, solar system, alternative 18. Military service - possible de-armory of military organisations. 19. Games - more realistic graphics, border with reality will be crossed? possible matrix in the future. (The matrix triology can be a good point you could speculate on, same goes with other movies targeting future - Terminator, 2012 ect) 20. Weapons of mass destruction - still developed, new ones. 21. Climate changes - possible new glaciation in the future - annihilation of human species, new world. 22. Communication systems 23. Peace/war on earth/between particular countries. 24. End of real books = rise of multimedia technology - can be pushed to global substitution of what we have now -> technology, internet databases. 25. Internet 2 (http://www__internet2.edu/) 26. Natural disasters evolution/revolution - new ways to prevent, or perhaps unstoppable and more powerfull ones. Vulcan erruptions, tornadoes ect. 27. The possible inevitable act of human self-destruction - humans can't see what great world they have, instead they quarrel, develop weapons, kill, annihilate themselves. 28. re-evolution of education systems - lower expectations, requirements for colleges, people are less and less educated 29. Crime - lower/bigger, why, organised or not, prison systems 30. Death penalty - yes/no, a resonable way to judge hardest crimes, especially with overcrowded prisons and possible global overpopulation. 31. Chimeras of animals allowed - cloning different species, creating new ones. 32. Utopia - all problems will be solved, no poverty, crime, wars, harmony and peace on earth for all eternity. 33. Control system - everything under control, every move of citizens being ovserved. Less crime at the cost of normal life and freedom. 34. Attacks of other species on planet earth 35. Drugs, fighting with addiction. 36. Extinction of animal species. - 1st endangered ones, then other's. 37. Synthetic food 38. Air pollution, problems with sufficient oxygen as the result of cutting forests to provide for places to build and live, factories. 39. Nuclear wars, threats from terrorists = apocalypse. 40. Healthcare, prolonging human lives, new facilities, vaccines ect. Pretty much everything I could come up with right now, hope it helps.
