Okay friends, I have a chain of websites and some of them are used to upload files (not online storage site, but something like flick'r). I also am a wed designer and freelance web developer. So i keep getting many requests to make website. I need a hosting account which: 1. Is reliable. (I need proof of reliability) 2. Is cheap (Economy matters... ) 3. Has lots of space (No unlimited plans please!) Reseller accounts preferred. and i would also like my own private nameservers configured (I have my domains already registered.) Please tell me what you have to offer. (also tell how much you charge for dedicated IPs) Regards,
Whats your budget and required space you expect ? also are you looking for UK or US webhosting account.
I am based in India, what difference does UK or US hosting make? (I am a developer and so dont have much idea regarding the location of the servers). I forgeot to mention, i need cPanel/WHM based hosting. Also, I need configurable max_upload_size option in php. I need space of around 10-20 GB initially, and upgradable. I'm not talking about budget, as if i say budget of 50/yr then i will receive hosting plans worth 40-45, you ppl tell me what is the best you can offer. I'll choose.
With regards to max_upload_size functionality this would only apply if you do have root access to the server so basically you may want to get a VPS for that. When talking about UK and US, AFAIK UK is offshore therefore the terms for UK and US are different. You may want to go a deep research on this stuff as it is forbidden to have some sort of illegal things here.
File Upload and all that will require your own server. thePlanet server are good to start with. Good luck. Toniya
However he cannot still change max_upload_size as this is locked out by providers, that he is pointing out. VPS or a dedicated server would be a great start for his specifications.
Shared and reseller providers won't let you modify the max_upload_size in php. Most people already have it optimized - for control of that you need at least a VPS.
From a latency standpoint, US based servers tend to be some of the best. Between network reliability and other factors that center around uptime and speed, US based servers generally tend to be more stable. Assuming your budget is reasonably in line with the average going rate for service that is commensurate to your expectations, I doubt you'll have a hard time finding a decent price!
I would recommend going with a web host that has been around for several years and has a positive track record. Check their support and see their response time. A lot of the hosts that advertise around here are "here today and gone tomorrow" so go with a proven web hosting solution imo.
