Hello all. We were given a laptop from a local private school after they upgraded their computers, but the former administrator is no longer with the school to get the password. Does anyone know of a way to hack the password without using the linux cd trick or any other software? For whatever reason, I am not able to get it to boot from a cd. I thought I read a trick online a couple of years ago where you get it from the registry - but I can no longer find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Emergency Boot CD (EBCD) is free among various other costly utilities. Look for it on Google. Yea, I know it's the Linux trick but try a different download source.
Option 1) If you have a floppy drive in your notebook then download or create the Windows 2000 bootdisks from Microsoft and use these to kickstart the installer assuming that you can't get it to boot from the CD. Option 2)Throw the disk into another notebook and reinstall windows 2000 from the working CD drive, after the textbased install it reboots then throw the drive into the original notebook and proceed with the install. Option 3)Buy an 2,5"to 3,5" hdd convertor then throw the disk into a PC and reinstall windows 2000 from the working CD drive, after the textbased install it reboots then throw the drive into the original notebook and proceed with the install.
