I m looking for a server for my forum with 1000 Posts/ Day average.

And mostly 20 odd members online at a time.

I m having problems with the load now on a shared server. What should i get Dedicated or VPS?

    Any recommendations?

Actually you dont need a dedicated server or even a VPS just go a for a premium hosting. The difference is if you are taking a premium hosting rate may be little higher than ordinary shared hosting but the server would be well maintained and a there would a limit in the maximum number of websites hosted on the server.

If you can afford it and plan on building traffic get a dedicated.

I myself just picked up a vps and hope to build from there.

I purpose that you go to a strong VPS. This would be a good step before going with a ded. server. It will be less costly and will yield about 80% of the power that a ded. server would. You will or should have root access along with much more fleability and scalability that you haven't seen while on your shared server.

    hope this helps some,
    Ryan
