    lets start by why do you need to know about web designing ?
    is it just to create a homepage for your resume site ?
    is it for your dad's business ?
    or do you want to become a web designer full time ?
    W3schools is a pretty neat site
    OSWD is also great but XHTML compliant coding might be for a later stage for you
