Sorry if i posted in the wrong forum i thought this one fits the best. I just got phpLD, but for some reason there is no categories... Do we have to add all the categories by our selfs? Thanks - Prilep
Yes you need to add categories using the admin panel via www.domain.com/admin - login and find the menu option marked 'categories' then add whichever categories you want!
Thanks, but i already know that. I was asking for something else. Do I have to add each and every one categorie? Is there a script that will make all the categories for me. I dont know if you guys get me. I see on other directories there are alot of categories and it will take me forever to add all of those with the sub categories! - Prilep
Thats part of it though - building your own directory with exactly the categories you want. If you dont want to take the time though to build up the categories yourself you can download a mysql database dump, which you can simply upload to your mysql database... presumably there are free mysql dumps around, although i know you can download them from certain places for a fee. if you do that though you site categories are likely to be the same has loads of other directories and hence might potentially be viewed as duplicate content by google - hence your site will recieve much lower serps, pr etc in the future. There are so many clones of the usually directory structure its getting silly - google might even start banning the mass produced pretty much identical directories. In short if you want to make a good directory thats going to provide some income/revenue, build it from the ground up. If you want to cheat and get a predefined list (and are probably running one of the standard widely used templates as well) this will simply make your directory blend into the crowd. Sure you'll the hits and the submissions but thats about it...
Well yeah. Im new with directories. I just wanted to start my own. Do you have AIM or MSN? Can you please PM me either if you want to. I need some help and some tips/advice. Thanks - Prilep
