Hello, I recently put a domain up for sale and no one was interested , so I decided now I am going to develop it, How do I state that with out getting hit with an infaction for bumping a thread, since the thread is 3 days old? Thanx in advance Joe
kind of a dumb reply, don't you think, especially since the Op already said "WITHOUT BUMPING MY OWN THREAD". sheesh.
If you reply to your own thread there's subtle ways to make it not a bump. Obviously, if vital information has changed and should really be added, and you didn't leave it out originally, then following up yourself could be tolerated. Bad example that IS a bump: Sales thread and seller leaves out BIN, then half an hour later (should use EDIT anyway) posts BIN. Good example: Your scenario. Or say, a sales thread and 3 days later you got Dugg and /.ed - that sort of stuff is vital and not a stupid omission in the original post. I have some threads that no-one replied. When days later I found the answer I went back to post the answer 'to myself' so other could benefit. Either members or those who Googled a related phrase. IMO such scenarios are not a bump. Use your own judgement on this.
what about sales thread without any replies? and then the thread gets lost within the sprout of new threads? posting "anyone interested?" will surely earn an infraction (or warning).
Thanx tops, I actually wanted to close the domain for sale cause no one was interested, and didnt want to bump it for no reason just to state that , I thought that would be silly ....so I asked here first and then recieved a helpful answer and then did what I was supposed to.....
That's exactly one that would be a bump. If you get no replies you can safely assume no one is interseted. Should have timed it better, written better title, better description etc. Promoting it should be done via your signature, not via a bump.
