ask 10 people and they will all give you a different answer, I have a database on one of my sites that is 50mb
and there is no slow down and everything runs smoothly.. I have another DB that is 13mb and is a little slow.

    Must have Extensions

    1. Community Builder- you must have this extension if you want any type of comunity

    2. DOCman -

    3. Joomla FCKeditor My Favorite editor- I have tried 7 of them and this is the best

    4. joom seo

    5. mos snippet - One of my fav extensions, i use it 20 times a day. insert text, html or php code in content with a quick tag like this {snippet ads1} or {snippet cj} great for adsense or other html/php codes you use alot.
it will hold 30 custom codes/snippets

Here are some sites created in joomla. Notthing to write home about.

    salsacentralglobal.com

    guidebuy.com

    windmilers.org.uk

    xtremelab.com

    joomlaproject.com

Thanks for the advice about extensions. I have one site on Joomla, just because I want to learn it. I've got it looking OK, but I am tempted to turn it into a WP site.

Wp is another good cms but I would not recommend it for a larger sites especially if you intend to have any type of user community. WP is good for blogging and small to medium sites.

WP does have the benifit of being easy to use and that is the best thing it has going for it.

Once you understand the structure of joomla you will find that it is very easy to use, it offeres alot of great features
especially with the extensions/plugin created by the community. I have seen Dating, Auction, news, Game and Myspace style sites created in joomla and they seem to work very well.

I have answerd all the questions that were sent to my pm so If anyone else needs help or has questions let me know.

who ever sent me a pm with the question regarding how to keep track of your banner advertisments please re send the email. I accidently deleted your question.....but I can tell you that there are extensions that do just what your looking for, there is one that will keep track of how many times a banner was clicked, where the click came from, and also features such as banner rotation and auto turn off of banners who have used up thier assigned credits.
pm me and I will find you a link.

i've got this message "PHP register_globals setting is `ON` instead of `OFF`" under the backend panel of my site. Before i added the "php_flag register_globals off" under .htaccess and it work ok, then suddenly i deleted that code on .htaccess for some reason of testing for other programs and after that it showed again this message "PHP register_globals setting is `ON` instead of `OFF`" on back end panel. And i tried to put that code again on .htaccess and when i check it, i've got the same error message on back end panel of my site. How will i fix that problem as i put the code back again on .htaccess but still got the error?thanks in advance...hope you can help me..:)

    Hi movieago,
Is it (Joomla) good for high traffic sites ? (I am talking about 50,000+ pages & thousand of members being online at same time)
So many people say it really effects the server & causes performance problems when traffic grows.
I would like to hear your experience / opinions.

Also, which is the best bridge for Joomla + vBulletin integration ? Is this integration simple ?

for your Joomla + Vbulletin question, It is not hard to implement VB in to Joomla but there seems to be a few bugs in most of the implementations of it. but then again there are bugs in most net aps
while your reading this take a look here. forum.bbpixel.com

as far as your traffic goes....both joomla and Drupal can handle a high traffic site. However if you are going to host media files as well as keeping up a high traffic site I strongly suggest that you split up the site keep the media separate.

out of the box no cms is going to run 100% smoothly and your going to have to make a few changes to the cms in order for it to support a large site like yours.

If you plan to have a large site with very little code/program exp I think you are best to choose joomla as your cms, Joomla was created for large community websites.

    2. In the contact us form - how to edit / which part to edit - to add a few more variable?

    3. How to make "READ MORE" appear a few paragraph after the main content. Which code to edit?

    1. if you do not want to use the SBM that joomala offers, all i can say to you is to do a google search for automated SBM there are sites on the INTERNET that will give you the code for yahoo/google sbm, then just paste the code in to a module position or on your nav bar. I use mod_HTML plug-in to put any HTML/php script on to my site.

    2. extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1659/Itemid,35/
use this is will create almost any type of custom form for you it is one of my favorites

    3. I actually tried changing the Read more tag in the code a few month back and I did not have any luck. I broke my code messing with it. I just use a page break to separate it from my text.
