My keyword rankings are not bad on google for a fairly new site but they are way behind in yahoo even though the site is listed on Yahoo Business directory. What's up with that? Are there any guidelines specifically for yahoo to follow? any suggestions? cheers!
In my opinion, yahoo like onpage optimisation + links. It's possible for you to use bold keywords, h1 tag, keywords that are in in your "alt" tags and anchor text as well as other other onpage optimisation will assist you regarding this issue. in addition, link is extremely significant in order to get proper position in SERP.
Yahoo is just slow. If your website is new I would give it a little more time. But just to let you know Yahoo works differently than Google. For best results get as many links as you can (Yahoo doesn't care where they come from) and use keywords in your URL. For example you would get better results using (www.mysite.com/videogames-COD4-Xbox360.htm) than if you had (www.mysite.com/videogamecod4xbox360.htm) Hope this helps you!
Yahoo can be a little slow. They really seem to focus on your on-page optimization (lots of keywords!) and your incoming links. So build links.
Dear James_, Yahoo takes time , try to optimize your web pages for the keywords you want to rank, All you have to do is to increase the back links no matter where they come from. So Build Back links. Google and Yahoo works differently. Have patience. Regards Tehmina
Thanks for the Help, I have been trying to figure out what to do with Yahoo as well. Google seems to be easier to optimize than Yahoo.
I get better ranking on yahoo than google. Maybe because I'm a yahoo webhosting customer. I also opened some geocities sites as link pages.
Google is fast in crawling and indexing your webpages than yahoo. You are saying it's a fairly new site.. so.. Just Be Patient. Yahoo will take time to crawl your site and index your pages.. Try to concentrate more on how to improve your content.. and the ranks will follow
Actually i wanna tell you fact that i don't give preference to yahoo results but still i cud give you idea about Yahoo Results. From my point of view Yahoo needs Keywords Stuffing in Title, Keywords in Content, anchor text, Links from high ranked sites like forums and directory submission. As i fell because i have seen few sites and few of pages of my sites those follow these criteria and ranking higher in Yahoo............. So try these might be you cud get success......................... But wanna give you advice if you are ranking well in Google so plz don't play with your site bcoz Google traffic does matter more than Yahoo traffic but if for you Yahoo traffic matters more than you cud play with your site..................
Give more emphasis on keyword density, on-page optimization and addition of quality content, using yahoo site explorer would be also helpful to you.
Google has the habit to give high positions to new sites in search but then suddenly, if the site is not continuously updated and maintained, it drops that site sharply down the list. What I want to say is that its a great news that your site is doing well in google but be careful about maintaining and updating your website with fresh content and a lots of backlinks otherwise google can be harsh on your new website. As far as yahoo is concerned, I totally agree with Headshot0123 and schgrv. My 2 cents..
