I had an idea for a Wordpress plugin, and would like some help to develop and deploy it. Because it has some viral potential, it can bring a lot of attention and traffic to the developer. Here's a brief description of what I imagined : Brief - “Share to download†Wordpress Plugin Scenario A user owns a Wordpress powered site, and wants to boost its visitors by making his authoral free content go viral. Goal To have a button at the end of the post, that when clicked, opens a popup of options to share the link before he can download the respective file. Proposal The button is called “Share to downloadâ€, and allows the linked content to go viral very quickly. The plugin generates the button based on the link inserted in the custom field, in the post editor. If no link is entered, the button is not placed. Specifications 100% CSS button. Customizable options: - Border color - Border width - Rounded corner radius - Fill color - Fill image (upload) - Button label Option to include a 16x16 or 32x32 icon inside the button, along with the text (from icon library or png upload) Placement options for the button - Before the post - After the post - Anywhere – user receives a code to paste wherever he wants the button to appear within the loop - In the RSS feed Social media sharing options - Twitter - Facebook - Orkut - Google Buzz - Google Reader - Blogger - Digg - StumbleUpon - Email Obs: To download the plugin itself, the user will have to share its link too, which is how the plugin is also viral. This would actually be a really good idea (assuming i t's not been done yet), I always feel kind of bad using one of your two "references" since you're limited to Twitter or FB. However, putting conditions on the plugin download is going a bit far to my mind since it means you can't be listed in the plugin directory and hardcore WP users tend to install everything from inside their admin panel so your plugin would not exist as far as those users are concerned.
I see your point ! I guess the share to download the plugin should only be present in the plugin site .. So it can still be listed in the Wordpress directory for direct install into WP .. I looked around and didn't find any other plugins with this funcionality ..
In that case, I would definitely use this plugin! I'd also offer to help develop it, but probably won't have the time. Such is life
