Need help with traffic

    Hi all, just wondering what are the different ways of me getting traffic.
    I know of directories and stuff, but those cost money no?
    if you can help me that would be great. Also, does anyone know of a website similar to craigslist (as popular)? please advise asap

    You can go over to the directory submission section and submit to directories. Most of them offer a free option.

    You need to go to the directories/solicitations & announcements forum. There is no list; no way of listing all the directories on the Internet. There are hundreds of thousands, if not more. Directory submission takes a little leg work. You have to manually submit your web site information to each one, but in the end, it should be worth it.

    To get more traffic, you can do a number of internet things. You can do link exchanges with others. Sometimes, a single link-exchange can general over 100 visitors a month. You can get listed in directories, though that may not be as much traffic. You can buy ads. You can buy keywords from google. You can issue a PR or post on Craig's list.

    You can also advertize outside of the internet. For example, passing out flyiers, posting signs, ads in newspapers, work of mouth, etc.

    Having your website in your signature helps. Also leaving relevant comments on blogs related to your site helps bring you traffic. Directories have never given me too much traffic short term. But long term they have helped me to have enough anchor text to rank well for certain keywords.
