Need Help with Quality Score

    Hi,

I thought I would give adWords a try to help promote my RPG, that I've been working on.

But everything I try for ad and keywords usually ends up in a QS of 2-3.
I've tried adding more the keywords into my landing page, I've used the adWords keyword recommendations, and just seems like no matter what I do, the QS will start out around 5-7 but then overnight drop to 1-2.

AdWords is also always recommending that I bid 1.00+ to get my ads to appear.

I hope it's OK to post a link to my game, but does anyone have any recommendations on how to create an ad/keyword combo, that ranks higher and stays that way?

Here is a link to my game.

Some of the keyword combos I've been trying are.

    phrase match
    Free Mafia RPG
    Free Role Playing Game
    Mafia Game
    Multi Player Mafia Game
    Free Online Role Playing Game

I thought those were pretty specific to the landing page, but adWords doesn't think so.

any help would be really appreciated.

    Thanks,

Adwords can be really hard to break into initially..

In its simplest form quality score = CTR x Max bid

If you dont want to increase your bids you'll need to increase your click through rate.

whats you CTR at the moment?

Are you running mulitple ads and rotating them?

Quality Score has nothing to do with Max Bid.

CTR x Max Bid is your Rank, not your Quality Score.

My current Click Through Rate is 2.98%, I have multiple ads but what do you mean by rotating? I thought it did that automatically, where is the setting for that?

How do I go about increasing my click through rate?

A click through rate of 2.98% seems good, your click through rate is basically the number of people who click your advert divided by the number of people who view your advert, so to improve this score you must a/ choose keywords that are relevant to what users search for when looking for a game/service that you provide and b/ make your adverts appealing ensuring that customers choose your advert over competitors.

Adrotation is in your settings by default google will show the advert that performs best most often, you can however change this to display your adverts evenly this is best if you want to choose the best advert yourself. Look at the different adverts you have an try and improve the adverts with the lower click through rates once they out perform your best ads your can do this all over again, your CTR should start to improve ;)

Muchancho is correct that your bid is not related to your quality score, as far as i understand it is given from click through rate, relevancy of your keywords, adverts and landing pages along with historical data across the network.

If you would like me to have a look at your account for you please send me a PM

    Good luck

Google will initially provide you with a high(er) quality score to your keywords in order to allow them to place higher so that it can compile data more quickly with regards to their relevance etc. If your QS falls then it is because you keywords are not well targetted to your landing page.

Paul on the surface that is correct, where a bid price may be effective in rasing the quality score is where your ads may not be bid high enough to see the first page/s and as such if thise keywords have a lower ctr and you have updated those ads you would / could raise your bid to show those ads.

Thsi in turn would if the ads have been improved then cause the ctr to be improved / now when if the ctr is improved then by default your qs will improve as well.

When this happens you can in theory reduce your cpc and retain your ad position due to the higher score.

however if your ads have not changed and you put up the cpc only then you will have no bearing on your qs, just higher costs

as you have explained though is correct and i am not a pro just a newbie bashing around so i may be wrong on this.
