Need help with promoting a forum

I have recently added a forum to my website and i want to promote it the way i promoted my directory. simply go around asking people and hoping they sign up. the forum is attached to the directory also.

The question is. where would i go to promote my forum becasue the last time i did that i got kicked off this one for um 8 months

I have a forum. Basically promoted it via word of mouth and via other forums on my subject matter.

I have recently added a forum to one of my websites. For a couple of days, I was frustrated because of the inactivities. What worked for me is that I created several accounts of my own and started a few threads to get the discussions going.

 

thats a nice idea to create many accounts and post

this might motivate new people to post
