Ok here's the problem, I have been asked to change a pantone color to pantone 173, however after some research on the web and a few attempts to do this, I have come across a slight, well actually its a major problem. My research of this pantone shows a reddish color, however when applying the pantone in Adobe Illustrator, its more of an Orange. I also looked at the same pantone in photoshop and it corresponds with the same results I found on the web, a reddish hue. I am assuming the reddish hue is the correct color, however I cannot figure out why Illustrator is rendering such a different color. Below are the to totally different colors of the same pantone, one from illustrator and one from photoshop What am I missing here? What am I doing wrong? Both illustrator and Photoshop examples below are in RGB mode
Bare with me, I am about to fall over from exhaustion.... if I remember correctly, after CS2 Pantone in illustrator can be represented in both lab and cmyk so you may want to do said work in lab on both ends..... My logic could be completely flawed but illustrator may be showing you the cmyk representation of the file regardless of color space. I could be nuts so sorry but it was a cool question. We do a range of fine art reproduction so I thought I had it but I don't seem to have illustrator installed to check a few things. I am going to read a few things real quick. I also fired off an email to my colleague who handles that stuff for me now. He will surely know what is up. hope that helps a bit, Nigel
