I have an interview coming up at an agency called Carat. They have asked me to do a short 5 minute presentation on:
“Taking a traditional high street retailer (
    eg
. Holland & Barratt), can you present ideas on how they should be developing their direct selling strategy to ensure future sales growth on their website”. I have been asked to
focus on usability, seo, ppc, display advertising, social media etc.

Struggling for ideas. Most high street retailers in the UK are pretty good online. Can anyone help?

Social media I think is the most important aspect of marketing now. The goal would be to create content based on your product that has viral influence.

PPC and SEO should both focus on the areas that the company is not as strong in. For instance from the example the seem to be strong in the vitamin vertical but they may not be as well known for lets say diet plans (completely made that up) so focus your SEO and PPC on that.
