Ok i am building a site in which i need it to be able to list several different items and have a system that it can be purchased, also i need another thing where a member of the public can pu there own product up on the site, all being automatic.

can any one give me some idea of what i need to do, i know im probaly going to have to pay some one to do it for me.

If i havent made it clear enought just let me know, and ill try to explain it better.

    Thanks

Use osCommerce and hack it so people can post products.

Go to get-a-freelancer.com - Fully installed osCommerce + 1 custom hack will probably set you back $200ish

Yup! OsCommerce is the best, IMHO...However, if you don't know anything about programming and stuff, you'll most probably need to hire freelancer...Make a little research on Google to find the best one(s), both moneywise and knowledgewise :)

    Good luck!

As everyone said a modified osCommercer may be a good choice.
osCommerce, (www.oscommerce.com) is free software but you'll need to pay someone to modify it, so users can publish their products.
Maybe you can get someone in their forums http://forums.oscommerce.com/
    Good luck
