Hello, I took a new dedicated server with godaddy. I changed the hosting info for the domain at my registrar (added two name servers NS1 and NS2 and put the IP of my server with them). It took 48 hrs to propigate. I added that domain to my server through control pannel. But now the site does not open in browser and this is what I get when I try to tracert it: Unable to resolve target system name mydomain.com. I checked all the help and this is all it says I need to do. HELP ME PLEASE, its urgent. Reps given!!
The issue has to be one of these problems: 1) The nameservers are not set correctly. Do a whois on your domain and verify they're set to the right nameservers that GoDaddy have specified. 2) The DNS entries for your name have not been added correctly. 3) The DNS update has not propogated to your ISP yet (unlikely after 48 hours). While your description would lead me to believe that you've done everything necessary, the fact is that one of your steps has not worked, for whatever reason. It could be a typo or something that you made, or it could be a fault with the GoDaddy service. You could try ringing them to make sure they have DNS entries for your domain name and they're pointing to the right server.
thanks for your answer. here is mine. 1. i am hosting my own DNS server. I did all the the things right at my registrat and whois is showing right information 2. yes they have 3. it should propigate already. I'll contact godaddy to see what is wrong, but I have a feeling they'll just say something like: "Although we offer dedicated services, we don't offer help on setting up each individually" So pls keep the ideas coming
Problem solved! I must say I am very supprised at how efficent godaddy support was. they answered in just few minutes after I wrote to them and fixed the problem! Here is what it was: Thank you for contacting Server Support. It appears you had the default firewall setting from your control panel. Setting this to "Standard" seems to have corrected the problem. Your site now resolves properly. Regards, Jon P. Server Support Technician
