Say if you are looking for a german-english translation service, what would be the KWs you are searching for on google ?

I have a variety already which perform ok, but with one (the one with the highest clicks) i am not sure.

It's "german to english translator" with negatives -online and -free

If someone is looking for "german to english translator"...would you say they're looking for a program or automated translation website or for a *service* doing translation (which i provide) ?

    thanks

Here's a suggestion. Find a competitor website who offers the service you are describing and check to see if they have any META tags. They may give you a good list. Try to find a website that appears high in the organice search. Also, you can use Google Keyword Tool. Click on the Site-Related Keywords tab and enter the URL of the page on their site that talks the most about the service. The tool will return the primary keywords from their page. This should get you started.

You have an ad group with only one positive keyword?

Huligan's suggestions are all good ones but you're going to have to focus heavily on negatives to return a good CTR. The words 'English' and 'German' will be incredibly popular so you'll need to load up on phrase and exact matches and really search out the negatives.

Are you running separate campaigns for English speaking and German speaking countries?

From a personal point of view I'd probably look for 'translation' rather than 'translator' as in 'translation services' - the services being an unlikely word being used by someone just looking for an online 'convert a phrase' site.

well i already have ad groups with "english german translation service" and related. I am targetting usa, uk, canada and HK.

But "german translator" and "english to german translator" right now gives me the most clicks. I figure i watch that for a while and if it doesnt convert i leave them out and focus solely on "... service" keywords.
