I got a good amount of traffic per day but maybe just a few dollars a day as well.

I would place a single ad in the gap between the rss button and register link

choose the background of the ad to be a contrasting color as we have in this forum

no. Just scroll to the top of this page the ad will capture you automatically, thats cause the gray background and the ad background is totally contrasting.

 

Take your adds out of the Tags box. don't look right to me.
