hey all.. Today i got an imac from a friend who was cleaning out a house so I got it for free. It is password protected and i couldnt figure the password out. So i guess i have to re-format the hard drive? I have never touched a mac before, but got this decent pc for free and would like to use it. anyone ave any tips on how to bypass this password thing or how to re-format the hard drive or any software i can download to fix this??? again i have no knowledge in macs at all... thanks
Ask for the password from your friend. And since he gave you the Mac, ask for the OS X installation disk as well. Besides, you need the disk just in case you need to re-install the OS, or if you get locked out because you forgot the password, or things like that. Those are the only ways to get in, the password, or a re-install with the password.
