Need help with forwarding domain / redirect

I've been helping a friend get his blogging site together, since he has no web experience. I told him if he bought the domain, I could host the site on my hosting plan for the time being until it got bigger. His domain is registered with godaddy, as is my hosting. So I logged into his account, set up a permanent 301 domain forward with masking.

It all works fine, except, the address bar only shows dhukha.com all the time. I would prefer to have the proper urls of each individual page show up as a user navigates the site. Also and more importantly, if I try to log into the admin section dhukha.com/wp-admin the page is completely blank, but the title information is there. Am I doing something wrong?

So far I've tried to edit the A record of the domain to match the IP of my hosting account, but that broke everything and I just had the typical godaddy "pageok" show up.

    Thanks in advance!

If you have him under your hosting plan you simply change his nameservers to point to your server.

"So I logged into his account, set up a permanent 301 domain forward with masking."

Why? You can't 301 to something, from nothing.

So then how do I correctly change the nameservers? Since changing the A record to the IP of my server didn't work.

Are you setting this up as an addon domain or something? You just log into his account and set his nameservers to yours basically if you are hosting this in some fashion from your account. You should never have to futz with your A record unless you have an unmanaged VPS or dedi.
Keep in mind it takes godaddy a while to actually make the change.

The last time I had to mess with someones godaddy account they did not get an email that I had changed nameservers for like 3 days lol..

No, I think like you said, it was just godaddy taking a long time to get things to work. They just got back to me and said the A record change was correct, just that it will take FOREVER to go through. I guess things are different for different hosts?
Regardless, thanks for your quick responses!

    Hello,

You simply need to create the domain on your hosting account & then you need to point your domains NS to your Hosting accounts NS :)
