I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction (or possibly create one for me) of a script that I can run where it will save everything within a database, zip it up and store it in a local folder somewhere on my site, named after the date/time it was backed up. It's just that I need to keep daily backups for my site, but I won't be able to do it manually. Thanks a lot.
I personally use navicat for all of my database administration and backups. http://www.navicat.com/ SO much easier than command line or phpmyadmin. Generally, it's a bad idea to store backups in the same place as what you are backing up. With navicat or another remote backup utility you can do daily, hourly, etc, remote backups, and do full restores through a GUI down to the table level. They offer a free personal edition, and a free 30 day trial for their business edition. I highly recommend checking them out.
