Need Help With Email Marketing Niche

I have been pretty successful with affiliate marketing. However I have never tried to create an email list or newsletter. I really want to, because I am sick of losing customers that may buy again and again.

I am looking for a specific niche or an example that would be best.

I understand that promoting a product such as cure eczema may not be the best because people are just looking for one solution and one answer to their problem. I am only expecting one sale for that niche, because if I wasn't able to cure eczema for them the first sale, why would they bother buying things from me?

Fitness sounds like a good niche because you can promote anything from muscle building, fat loss, and fitness medicine and equipment. However this niche is pretty saturated.

Anyone know where I can start? Thank you.

Sorry if this goes long....a couple of points....

    1. As an affiliate, when you build a list it is typically made up mostly of non-buyers. Just because they came to your site and signed up for your email list doesn't mean that they went ahead and bought the product.

By collecting their email, you can follow up with several emails trying to get them to buy the product that they didn't buy to begin with. Some studies have shown that most people do not buy unless they have seen an offer at least 3 times. Then you can market to them down the road for additional products regardless if they bought your recommendation or not.

Now there are many ways to go about this. Newsletter with a "sponsored by" link, a direct sales approach, etc. Different niches react to different approaches.

    2. You can collect emails and sale additional products in almost any niche. Using your eczema example, I will tell you that as the owner of beateczema I market to my email list regularly. There are actually several things you can market to them if you know the niche really well. I have 2 backend offers and also some physical products that I market to them after some times.

Solar energy is a BIG niche to collect emails in. Big list owners blast all the time. They will send out offers for stuff like solarheat, diy electric bike, build electric car, solar air heaters, etc.

There are a lot of niches that list building can be beneficial. You just have to expand your mind.

For example: You promote a pregnancy weight loss book, you know that most of the people have just had a baby, you could even narrow this down on your landing page with a "click here if its been less than 6 months" "click here if its been 6-12 months" etc. with a different email list on the following page. You now can email market to them for the next 18 years. All kinds of kid stuff...age appropriate stuff....baby Einstein videos through amazon...teach your baby to read....potty train...math....on and on and on. The possibilities are endless.

    3. The hard part isn't picking the niche. The hard part isn't finding things to send the list. The hard part is BUILDING the list. I don't care what anyone tells you, it is hard to get people to take something even if it is free. There are a lot of good techniques on how to do this and I am not going to go into that here but be prepared to feel like a newbie when you start building your list.

Hope this helps at least a little....Good question.

This does help! and thank you Domainiac. I actually had the same idea with the energy thing. I have promoted your product in the past, great product, and I made many sales. You can check your sales list my clickbank id has eroker in it.

I didn't mean to put your niche on the spot. I figured since it was so exclusive (curing something) that it may be hard to have continuous sales with email marketing. You made a great point, and I stand corrected.

Oh trust me, when I had the first 1000 or so emails I was thinking...ok now what. Luckily I found some things that worked early on and it got me going email wise.

As a vendor, I market to my email list very differently than I do to my lists built as an affiliate.

    Good luck with it.

Pregnant women are a very good niche ... It has enormous potential. Agree
fully. But you need a good tool to target your email
shipments. I heard talk about lyris and e-goi, but lyris is more expensive. You also may try graphicmail, for instance.
