i own an anime streaming website (check link in signature)
anyway, all our videos are hosted on VEOH and Megavideo and we merely embed videos from those sites.

Funimation wants us to remove the episode posts from our website (even though we don't host the videos)

is there anything I can do? I am not hosting anything illegal... i'm merely an index for anime.

IF they are big, then you might have to.

But since you don't host them, no I don't think you should.

It doesn't matter if you don't host the videos. Even just providing a link can be contributory infringement. If you don't take them down, they can use a DMCA to have your host remove your pages (and they will likely just suspend you) and have google/yahoo/msn etc remove your sites from their index. You can also be sued.

The other poster doesn't know what he is talking about. DMCA notices filed with the host or search engine will be acted upon without a proper response or removal of offending material. Acting as if you don't understand gets your site removed. The owner of the material can still sue you if they choose. Moving to another host doesn't make the problem go away.

anime costs a fortune to produce and can take years for each title. take down all the videos asap so as to protect the original creator -- do the right thing.

you will have to remove them if they have explicitly told you to..so do not take the risk of keeping them on..

That the downside of using onshore host.
If you still want to keep the anime, yes you can do it by switching to another host preferably is offshore host that will not care what thing you host with them.
