So I made a new layout and tried to plug it into my site. I'm a newb at building websites and I use phpinclude. I put an "all.php" include on all my pages that contains the seperate php's for the left navigation, right, advertisements, etc. Something happened and my site is all jambled up. Here is my site: www.bbmechanics.com. I know the google ads are there I just haven't had time to put it in another spot, but I'm curious as to why the layout is pushed down a little and you can see the background at the top, and I also am wondering why the layout is pushed a little to the right, making the background not match up with the layout. If you could help me this would be awesome! Also, I would like to center my layout, but considering I use DIV and I need to position something by pixels, once I maximize or restore the page, my layout can be in a totally different location then all my text. I need to know how to center everything, including all of my div's, and i need to know how to do it so that every page adjusts to it too. My thought would be to somehow use css to center the entire body tag but I'm not sure if I could do that.
Your doctype is incorrect and you are in quirks. Use this one: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
hmm I thought that could have something to do with it. I replaced it with the one you gave me but it's still out of line
Well, I had no idea what that was all about. It was telling me that I forgot to end my html tag and stuff, which was clearly </html> in the example too, so I don't know how that helped.
