My boyfriend won't wash his hair because shampoo makes it poofy/frizzy giving it body it doesn't need. (He's got really curly hair. When he shampoos then conditions it, it's poofy AND shiny.

Can anyone suggest a product that won't do this to his curly hair? He would like to be able to wash his hair but doesn't want a fro.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
    Melanie

Nobody can tame it, and it's not worth trying. You can't silence a fro.

Some claim lemon juice straightens hair. I have very curly hair, it goes fro if I grow it longer than a standard short hair cut.

Normally I just keep it shaved now a days, tried products that never worked.

    Everyones hair is different though.

Oh, he's fine with it being curly... but it's just that when he washes it his hair turns into a fro. What kind of product should he buy where he can just maintain his natural curls without going into puffball mode?

I suffer from the curse of curly/poofy hair.. I use a leave-in conditioner called "mane and tails" (or something like that).. it keeps the hair kinda wet and prevents the 'poof' ...
Although, lately i've just buzzed it all and have a flat-top.. and i'm considering a ShoeMoney/Darren Rowse hair-du..

My wife's mother is a beautician (sp?). She deals with peoples hair that seems uncontrollable all the time. My advice would be to go to a professional. It will cost him a little bit more upfront, but i've seen her do wonders with people.

My brother-in-law when I first met him had hair from the 80's. He had the comb-over and he has 3-4 "cowlicks" on his head, one directly in the front. He now has a updated style hair look, and keeps it extremely short. You wouldn't even know it if you saw him now.

A GHD hair straightener is a great idea, but only if you have the hair length to use it.

This is the reason clippers were made! :D Tell him to just shave his head, it'll probably look much better and he won't have to worry about it anymore.

tell him to use.. Granier Fructise.. (not sure about the spelling).. this makes your hair really nice. shiny.. but not spoofy.. and your hair becomes more stronger.
