Need help with adsense placement on blog

Hi all, my blog is starting to generate a small amount of income from adsense, but I feel it could be higher. I put a lot of effort into content, and adsense is a great way to cover my costs but I'm concerned that the adsense placement is not optimised, and might even be upsetting some of my visitors.

If any placement experts on these forums could help me out I would really appreciate it. Currently I have a skyscraper on my overview pages, and banner sized ads on my detail pages.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone, please feel free to pm me if you would prefer. EDIT: I'm sorry, the forum software won't let me add my url, please view my profile where my blog address can be found.

I agree, I'd put either a 468 banner in your blue header or a 468 link unit beneath your menu, and then a 468 banner beneath your first post.

I've tried adding a 468 link bar under my navigation, and I also have the 120x600 skyscraper in my sidebar, and I've added channels. I'm noticing that the sidebar ads are getting the most clicks, and the search box is generating nothing. The top link bar gets a small number of clicks.

As for traffic, the site is looking like its going to get about 6-7000 uniques this month. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving my adsense clicks. Thanks in advance,

    Carl

Hey, Carl. I've found that with most blogs, the most effective ads are the 336 box at the end of the articles (but before the comments) in the single pages. It's optimal because once your reader finishes reading, they look for navigation, and there's your ad block, waiting to be clicked on. Give it a try. (You might want to remove the sidebar while you're running this test, as too many ads might turn off some visitors, and you mention that that was an issue.)
