Hey chaps, I recently got a new dedicated server with whm & fantastico installed...

Now I am used to WHM as I have had VPS accounts and CPanel accounts in the past provided by big hosting companies...

For reference the server is to host about 400 wordpress blogs and 400 joomla sites and I plan to use the fantastico plugin for easy installation...

The problem is quite simple.. When I install wordpress, it installs an old version. When I click on the upgrade button it asks for ftp details... I put in the ftp details and it just keeps timing out.. The same thing happens when I am installing plugins and templates... Its really frustrating..

In and ideal world I would like the server set up to automatically install wordpress themes to the install and have certain settings of wordpress already installed such as permalinks set and all in one seo installed..

I have tried speaking with the hosting company and they reccomended that i do not set access to all files on the server 777.

    Anybody help?

    Sam

looks like wordpress is having permission problem. have you assigned the folder ownership to cpanel users. If that doesnt work why not assign 777 temporarily for updating wordpress and then later you can roll back.
