Need help with a caregiver's website

I've been working on a website for family caregivers (people that help disabled and elderly spouses, parents, neighbors, etc) and am getting close to wanting to make it public. Could anyone please give the site a quick scan and tell me anything that just does not look good to them? Right now I am looking for anything at all that stands out and, if you are feeling a little cutthroat in the department of finding flaws, don't hold back. :D I have a thick skin for constructive criticism. As long as you are criticising my site and not me, tear it apart. I would rather you all find flaws and point them out to me (lousy layout, poor design, bad images, boring content, stupid idea, etc...) than for my future visitors to find those same flaws and not return to my site.

Thank you all in advance for any help you might give me on this, it is greatly appreciated.

One point I am not happy with is the colors, but I'm not sure what would be a good color combination for that site. I am lousy with colors, tending to go with plain white pages and blue accents, but I went with grays and sortta off-whites on that page because a friend complained about too much white hurting her eyes.

I'm also not happy with the menu layouts - so any suggestions there would be appreciated.

Notes: The top site baner is partly obscured behind the black bar and I am working with my image person to get a smaller image for that area. Also the site is not yet content heavy, there is content, but not a lot yet.

Is this the site http://familycare.phantascene.com/caregivers/ ?
if it is than it's a excellent site :) But blend the google ads more. Remove the border of google button(on right). Make the backgroudn of all ads as black and the font color as white. Use ladder 768X120 at both sides. And you don't have to write ads by Google on the right menu :) Best of luck

Yup, that's the main site, Poseidon. Thank you for the compliment on it :D I've been working on getting it to look good for a month now, started with the basic Mambo template and been learning as I go. Thank you for the tips too, I've noted them in my 'site to do' notebook so I can be sure and remember them when I am tweeking it later.

On the main page you use the times font, and the link leads to arial. I am also guessing that people reading your site are either looking for themselves or their parents. Either category are in the need glasses group. No reason to have this:

    if they can't read it.:)
