Sorry, not sure to understand what you're looking for. Is it a script to protect your files from being downloaded by people who would have not paid before? Or a script to add some sort of unique number to your templates?

You have several programs you could use to protect your templates. For example, dlguard.com, mydigitaldispatch.com, ewportal.com. But PayPal will also let you send your customers to your download page once they have paid. But PayPal doesn't really protect your download page like other scripts. There are still some tricks to protect it. Choose a hard to guess name for your download page, change it on a regular basis.
I think paypal has an easy way to do this. Using paypal will also allow your users to use credit cards.
Yes, when you are in PayPal and create a payment button you can fill in a field with your download page. This way, when someone pays he's sent back to this page and can download your product without you having to do anything. You could still not use this option and just check your inbox to see if you have received some orders, and then send the link to your customers but then you would certainly lose lots of sales because people don't like to wait. They would just go to a competitor, who will let you download your order immediately. Yes, PayPal let your users use their credit card to pay even if they don't have a PayPal account. But the use of specific programs like the ones I listed in a previous message still allow you to use PayPal, or another payment processor. They are just some sort of add on.
If you go the Paypal route, wouldn't the download page be known and anyone would be able to access it?
I think the best way to go is to setup a shopping cart script on your site so that you can track orders and payments. If you search for "php shopping cart" you can find a few.
Yes, you're right Speedster. That's why I said it would be a good thing to often change the name of your download page. But even if the download page is not known, it's easy now to share a file with the whole world if it is what you (I mean the buyer ) really want to do. There are no 100% sure way to protect your digital products. You can only minimize the risks.
I had one before, it was the same script that vbskinworks.com used, but the they recently remvoed the © so I can't find out what the name of the script was.
