Need help understanding linking

    Hi everyone,

My wife and I are new to affiliate marketing and are having a hard time understanding this part of the process. Here's what we have so far:

    4 ads on USFreeads
    3 Squidoo pages
    4 articles on GoArticles
    1 product sales page

Right now the USFreeAds, Squidoo pages and GoArticles have links directing people to the sales page. Is that the way I should be linking?

I also want to start posting on forums, blogs, etc. that are related to the product I'm selling so I can advertise through my signature line (that's backlinking, right?). What should I use as a link for my signature line? Should it be the sales page of the product? Should it be one or more of the articles that I've written?

I'm really confused at this point.

    Thanks in advance.

Also...would there ever be a reason to link from one article to the other. For example, would I link a USFreeAd to GoArticles? Would I link a GoArticles to Squidoo? Thanks

If you were doing a link wheel then you could link from one article to another, but you would more likely link from a squidoo lens to a weebly post or something in that case. I suggest you check out lemonarian.com for info on link wheels.

Also look for Alex Goad's googlelizer method.

Continue adding more articles to the top article directories. You don't need more than half a dozen. Don't opt for auto submission services that submit your article to 1000 sites - there is no point.

To your articles add blogger, livejournal, wordpress, weebly, vox, blogsome, etc. Link to your site from all of these.

Finally bookmark all the articles, blogs etc

It is important to maintain a constant and possibly growing link velocity, maybe 3-5 links/day forever. Sooner or later people will link to your site without you asking and this will help, but in the meantime it's link, link, link...

I only stick with high page rank backlinks. I dont see a point in getting many backlinks with zero page rank. I know these are well respected sites in Google which will give your site some authority but I rather go for the meat right away. I have had sites jump to the first page of Google with a few high PR backlinks. For some reason I just hate linkwheels.

Thank you. I downloaded the report and as the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words."

Let's see if I'm understanding this correctly. If I'm selling something like weight loss, then I should be on weight loss forums that have high PR, right? If that's correct, that part makes sense.

The question is, do I have a signature line in the forum that links directly to the sales page of the product I'm promoting or do I have it point to one of my articles? If it's an article, which one do I select out of the 6-7 that are out there? I'm probably overthinking this. Thanks
