Need help understanding different links

    I need a bit of help understanding the different types of links and which ones are best for SEO. Which is better, a deep link or a link to my site's home page?

    If I was to buy a link from a PR 5 site, would it be more beneficial to have that link on their homepage or on a page within that site which receives the same amount of traffic as the homepage? ie would it be as beneficial to have my link on a 'links' page of PR 5 site as to have it on the homepage?

    Are sitewide links any good?

    I think the thing you should consider is, having link with high PR and get those related to your site.

    For me, having sitewide links is best as it produces more backlinks.

    Right, not a great help. Sitewide links are probably a good option but they cost more right?
