I've been getting re-occuring 404 NOT FOUND errors in my "Google sitemaps" account. Here's an example: http://www.mydomain.com/" 404 (Not found) [?] May 13, 2007 http://www.mydomain.com/" target=%2...="1" face="Arial" color=" 404 (Not found) [?] May 19, 2007 http://www.mydomain.com/</span></... <td valign= 404 (Not found) [?] May 14, 2007 http://www.mydomain.com/a><a href= 404 (Not found) [?] May 14, 2007 I don't know where Google is getting these particular URLS from in my site. It looks like some of them are even including HTML code that is in my page. I'm confused but would like to fix these problems. Does anyone have any ideas? If i click the links, since they do not exist, I'm redirected to my home page (assuming by way of my htaccess)
Those look like URLs used for a URL injection attack. At least one of them appears to be a link and another appears to try and add a table to your page. This may just be little script kiddies or you may have left out some info on those links. It may also be someone who didn't add your link to their site correctly and part of their HTML became part of 'your' link. If it didn't come from you or your site, don't sweat it. You have no control over other webmasters and Google understands this.
