When you created the Wordpress installation with Fantastico, it should have automatically emailed you details of the installation, including the name and password you set for your administrator account (I never use the default 'admin', btw). Also, when you go to yourdomain.org/wp-admin/, login page has a hyperlink labed 'Lost your password?' Click that link; it should solve your problems.

    Hope this helps.

Make sure if your installing in the root of your domain (mydomain.com) then leave the "Install in Directory" field blank.

are your domain names nameservers and A records correctly configured to show your hosting, if they are not set your site will probably show a godaddy page. Whats your domain, can take a look if you like.

Hostgator has a better interface than fantastico for installing wordpress... Look for the one click wordpress install in your cPanel.

First make sure: Your Nameservers are pointing to the Hostgator nameservers (will also be known as NS1,NS2 etc), they can sometimes take a while to configure, may be best to reset your modem etc.

Second: as already stated make sure you installed it onto the frontend of your domain, not in yourdomain.org/wordpress. Useally the installation details will only be sent to your email address if you select the option for it.

if worst comes to worst simply contact Hostgator or Godaddy that is what there Support teams are getting paid for :)

any name server change can take up to 24h-48h to propagate, so you may need to wait a bit
