Don't worry the template did install properly. You just didn't place some elements as in the demo site which is why you think the template is not looking the same. Just place the newsflash and other such things and it should look the same. Just explore a bit inside joomla ;)

Look for the "template layout" or something like that. It will have which extensions and their placement the demo site used.

Learning Joomla can take many days.. its not complex, just confusing.. and sometimes very confusing when functionality not in place from start..

Try Extensions, template manager.. EDIT.. see if you get any further, Is template you installed marked default? if not, enable it.. If so, click on it, there may be more features or info there.

Also look at all modules, and plug ins make sure if anything like that was included is enabled, and configured properly.. and look at menu settings

Your template is instaled corectly. Place modules in right positions. For example Search module probably should go to Search not Right position if you would like to have your page organized like demo site.

Find Module positions diagram in your template documentation. If there isn't any try with ading a

    ?tp=1

behind a demo site url. Sorry I can't write a url since I'm not allowed to do this yet.
