Well, it really doesn't help that the site you sent me was available for a very quick look earlier this morning, but I've just been back to it and it's down - not good at all (has been for last 5 minutes)

Depends - if you get more conversions in this period of time then it's a good idea to incraese your cpc for that period as you get more conversions then

"bookkeeping" is too broad. You said you are offering a bookkeeping service so that's the kind of keywords you should be using.

Split keywords into themes which will be your groups. Off top of my head "Bookkeeping Services", "Bookkeeping Companies", "Accounting Services".

You also said you have a total of more than 2000 keywords. That's seems awfully high but I'm not familiar with bookkeeping. Then again, adding geo-keywords (ie: "bookkeeping services in Sydney") could drive the numbers up.

High QS suggests you have targeted ads and keywords. Since that's the case and QS is also based on your competitors' QS (most of which is CTR by the way), this suggests your competitors are also getting low CTR. Low of course is relative. A 1% CTR compared to 10% is low, but not as much compared to 2%, which maybe is what your competitor is achieving.

Split testing is having two ads running at the same time. Pause the lower performing one and replace it with another ad. Repeat the process. If you create better ads with higher CTR, your CTR will naturally go up. This will improve your positioning for the same bid and you may even pay less per click.

Don't test more than 3 ads at a time in your split test. Go with two at a time to start with.

I agree with Daniel, try offline methods as well.

In your case, don't use the content network by bidding on keywords like you do for search. Find sites where people more likely to use your services gather. Target those sites, if they display Adwords of course. The placement report is a good place to start to find out where your ads were served in your previous content campaign. Also, don't mix campaign types. Have a search-only campaign and a content-only campaign.

CTR in content is always lower although I've got some which are close to the search campaign. My rule of thumb is to get a minimum of 0.1% (1 in a 1000) CTR in content. Another rule of thumb I have is to get one tenth the CTR from the search campaign. So if I get 8% in search, my goal is 0.8% in content.

Note that ads that work in search may not necessarily work in content. Keep in mind the site and audience you are targeting. Create ads specific to them, one ad per site your target if you have to.

Someone else mentioned to run a search query report. Do it and find out what search terms people used to have your ads displayed. This can be a real eye opener and a great source to unearth keywords, especially negatives.

But the best way to increase CTR, which is your ultimate question, is to write an ad that makes them go "Sounds great! Exactly what I need!". Find that special phrase that does that and use it in your ad.

I have 1-4 ads in a Ad Group. does current CTR is good performance or not. Could i increase above 5% and make a single conversions per day? Please help me...

If already not done so, split each keyword into 1 adgroup per match type. Create a new campaign this way and once done pause each adgroup of the old one where keywords match between new and old and see the new CTR improve.

You can use quantcast to see which demographic is searching your keyword the most. Then narrow it down in your campaign settings.
