Hi All, I am looking to get a ranking for my site in major search engines....I know blog writting can help me much. That's a fact that search engines love blogs, But I don't have much knowledge about creating and updating and posting a blog.....and so on Can anybody suggest me something?
are you looking for a hosted blog (try blogger.com, or sign up for a hosted one on wordpress) or one you host yourself? if the latter, you have a lot of options. the most popular right now is probably wordpress.

A hosted blog is when you don't have your own webspace or server, so instead you have you own blog hosted on a site like blogger.com, so you will have a blog address such as yourblogname.blogger.com instead of www.yourblogname.com

Ok, let me make it clear... I want to know what is a blog? How can I set up a blog? How a blog can help me getting more traffic to my site? How frequently I should update/ edit my blog? Which blog is better? hosted one/ your own. Will my blog help me getting good rank on search engines?
The best bet is to check the 2 main Blog providers out: blogger.com This Blog software is already hosted on a service, all that you require is to fill out a form with your details and prefrences - It's as easy as setting up a free email account. wordpress.com This Blogging software needs hosting on a server and domain name, which you will need to provide. It can also be a little tricky setting up if you don't know any programming language. My advice would be to start with the Blogger software, it's easy to use and does the job well. Once you have run that Blog for a year or so, move onto the WordPress software and see how you like that. The only differnece is template designs, implementing tags and being able to have the blog on your own domain name. If you need anything clarifying, just PM me and I'll be more than happy to help.
it depends on your tastes. blogger is easier to use but it also lacks the features, extendability, and support community wordpress has. which of those featuresets you value more should determine what you use.

The reason Google likes blogs is that normally blogs are up-dated often! Google likes fresh and up-dates web pages/content! How frequently I should update/ edit my blog? Think quality over quanity here. If you want people to return to your blog, make sure each entry is interesting and better than the compeitors blogs - High quality is the key! Which blog is better? hosted one/ your own. Depends on what you want out of your blog. For the end user, not much I think. Blog readers don't think "urr, the blog is hosted with Google, I won't read this" It's all about quality content. Will my blog help me getting good rank on search engines? It's another avenue to your site. You can express your views and thoughts on your releated subject, if your readers think the same, they may well visit your site and thats another hit!
