I have a site, AD.com and I recently bought a new domain name, TLB.com. What I am hoping to do is to direct someone who browses on TLB.com to be directed to an index.htm file within a subdirectory called AD.com/public/TLBdir/index.htm and I'd like the browser window to show just TLB.com rather than AD.com/TLB that's to say that I don't want the original site name appended to this new domain. Is this possible. any help would be greatly appreciated. My webhost was no help at all. Jon
I have no idea what you are saying. The AD and TLB looks very confusing. Can you clarify what you mean?
I've been doing some of that lately. First off, how you do this is highly dependent on the registrar that you are using. Godaddy is a little different from namecheap.com for example. In any case, what you have to do is go to the registry of the more recent domain and select, Manage domain. Then select the domain name you want to have the re-direct assigned to. Once you select it, look for the link to for "URL re-direct" or FORWARDING (if you are using godaddy.com). You will then need to select "forward with masking". Just paste the full url of the file you want people to see, into this box. Save it and exit the registrar's website. In a matter of about 10 minutes you will see that file, every time you type the domain name of the TLB.com domain name. With GoDaddy, you may have to set up a few other things called "A record, and the "WWW record". You can contact support for this if you wish. One thing is for certain though, this type of re-direct or forwarding has to be done in the back office of the registrar for your TLB.com domain. All the best,
