    nowadays a lot of traffic to website is not from search engine anymore, it is from other website's backlink which drive traffic to your website.

    @Malcolm, I guess you are in the right place. To build backlinks, you need to be active in the web scene: Joining discussion forums, commenting on other people's blogs and submitting to article directories. This is only the tip, but you will find that it is almost the whole story.

    Does your keyword get searched for by enough people to generate enough traffic? Google often over-inflates traffic numbers. What promises to be a good traffic keyword can often be poor in reality.

    traffic is not related to search optimization only...it can also be increased by generating backlinks.....the best way is to make backlinks is to just comment in forums and discussions.....

    What is your rank in the 1st page of Google. If that keyword is very relevant to your site you will sure get traffic. Rank 1-3 gets 75% of the traffic and the 4-10 sites share the remaining 25% traffic.

    I agree with Phil and others too here. Most of the people just check out the 2 or 3rd or 1st or 5th position on the first page, which doesnot assure you of any kind of traffic. Now-a-days the short content written under your link on google is also very important, this can lead you more traffic ;)
