I have a site that is nursing related, I am adding a job section to the site...
I need to know which one of the following options would work the best for SEO:

    nursing-jobs.mysite.com
    or
    jobs.mysite.com/nursing

    Thanks

One thing to keep in mind when you use subdomains is that the search engines essentially treat them as a separate website. So you will want to do link building to each subdomain as if each one is its own website.

Either one of your url structures will be fine for seo. If you only have nursing jobs, it is a little unnecessary to use both a subdomain and a folder. I would just use one or the other. I would either do nursing-jobs.mysite.com or mysite.com/nursing-jobs/

I agree with vansterdam 100% in that search engines treat subdomains as a seperate website.. but I'd also like to mention that the search engines prefer top level domains as well.

Another thing to point out is that your link building efforts would be doubled if you used a subdomain (and planned to build links to it) vs keeping it all on the top level.
