Hello everyone, I own a web design company avalonstudios DOT ca . We are currently running a Google Adwords campaign and have been doing so for the past couple months yet so far we have had little to no response through our contact form or email. I would like your suggestion as to what steps we could take to have a chance at improving our conversion rate. We have a good amount of keywords that we are using to bring visitors to our site so the quantity and presumably quality is there. Personally I feel that something needs to be done with the content of the pages to encourage visitors to use our service or at least enquire further about them. Note: Currently our adwords link points to our 'web development' page however we have experimented with both that and the main page.
Start with making the contact us link more visible. Consider using a colour or design treatment that really pops it out of the page. If you want to make the campaign really effective create a landing page that gives them specific details about how to choose a web developer or designer with point form notes to be aware of and how you handle those well. If you make a landing page for your ad campaign you can actually say stuff like "So you're looking for a web developer on Google? Here's why we can help you best..." You may want to take a look at your competitors landing pages as well. Go to google and type in one of the phrases you're targetting and visit some of the advertisers. In my opinion you would increase conversion if you spent some more time on your web design. It could be friendlier (bolder, warmer color palette) and it could be more open (more white space, use of some motion). The way it's gridded out right now it feels claustrophobic and very very corporate. Anyways, those are some quick suggestions.
from my experience, google adwords wasn't as effective as yahoo search marketing. it's less expensive as well. for search engine advertising, it all comes down to how effective the keyword that you are using is. if it's very broad...it will probably cost a lot per click with less conversion rate. if it's more precise, you will have less clicks, but most likely, higher conversion rate with less cpc rate. don't try to compete other large companies with popular and common keywords. they spend tens of thousands a day in advertising, while majority struggle with couple of hundred
