    Hi,

I'm confused about my own website...really would appreciate some help in focusing.

    Intro:
My website is at http://www.ebreviews.com. It's basically a website where users can go and post reviews about their experiences on different eBusiness websites (websites that provide online business opportunaties, such as TheRichJerk.com for instance)

    Concerns:
    1) What category (in a directory submission) would my site be in? I feel so lost...

    2) How do I describe what my site does in a sentence or two? In my introduction, it took me a mini paragraph to explain it...plus, many of you know what TheRichJerk.com is, and will instantly understand what I am talking about. However, many people aren't as Internet savvy, and may have no idea what "eBusiness website reviews" are...plus doesn't "eBusiness websites" sound very broad?
Any ideas how I can get around this or to focus?

Your help would be much appreciated...I really need to try to focus things.

    1. It will be under "Internet Marketing" category

    2. If they arent internet savvy, they probably are not interested in your site and reviews anyway. Something along ebook review will be good.

    A quick question,

Why the category "Internet Marketing" ? Are there any other possible choices?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm just a little confused as to why it would be under there.

I think it is because most of your reviews are focused on IM, thus the suggestion to post within the IM category.

Here's what you need to do once you have a new website:

    Grab pen and paper
Sit down and describe your target audience...who is it? male? Female? Where do they work? do they work? How much money they make? What do they desperately want? Where do they hang out? What would they search for? What would interest them?

    * I go with three profiles. These three will represent loosely the average Joe in your target market

Another strategy I use is one I learned from Dr. Joe Vitale. What you do is you image yourself as your target audience..then you think of what you want most and what you would trust most. Then you go through steps to find it, perform a google search or something and see what interests you and what you would buy.

The reason you need to do this: All marketing should truly start once you have identified your target, otherwise you'll be targeting everybody and get nobody. Be very targeted. It's ok to get 400 visitors that convert 20% compared to 1000 that convert 0.01%

That's what will truly answer your question. Because, true that the website is a review site it can actually fit in various categories, the only person who can answer the above question is YOU based on what you want out of the marketing and promotion based on your Vision of the website.

I can think of 3 different things I can make the site into...and I'm sure so can others.

Who are you targeting? People who have no experience in IM? People who've got there feet wet? People who are making a minimum in IM? Or the work at home moms looking to start their internet businesses? Focus on one group first and then expand and your marketing, titles, ads will be dependent on which section you're working with.

great post AnaB, and thank you.
It'll take me some time to digest the info, but I'll definitely take your recommendation and go through the process.

Hopefully I'll have some new insights after.
