I am from hungary and we have registered a new company along with VAT number. Recently one of my client asked me to issue a invoice but since this is my first time i really dont know how to issue a invoice. i have seen some sample invoices and will be copying it, and i will be including client name and my company address, product desc, amount etc... My questions are. 1. What is EU vat? do i need to include that in my invoice to UK client. i am using USD as the currency, not euros. At present i am just using website name and total amount, i am not using vat in the invoice. 2. What must be included in the invoice? Any help or advice is much appreciated.
How comes your true country is india if you are from hungary? Also there is no EU VAT ast every country in the EU has their own VAT and VAT ID's the currency you are charging in doesn't matter The things that have to be included differ from country to country don't know about the rules for hungary (if this is really true)
yes, i do have VAT no issued for our company in hungary. Are you saying that VAT is only used within the country, not applicable in cross border transactions? will it be anything wrong, if i dont add vat number in invoice?
I can tell you about the German VAT but this is federal law so it differs from country to country in Europe. In Germany you also have to show VAT no matter which country you sell to. The only way you are allowed to not display it is if the customer can provide a VAT ID from a country outside of Europe. And there are some more rules regarding the place where your service is provided that make a difference for the VAT. To make sure you are doing everything right I suggest you take a course for VAT law in Hungary as this can be a pretty complicated matter (I have been studing for German law)
