I'm looking for some new ideas to market my exotic pets forum. The forum has been up for a month or 2 now. It passed the 100 members mark yesterday but getting new members has recently become really really slow.

At the moment this is what I'm doing:
    - Posting weekly adverts in online reptile classifieds
    - Posting on a few forums with my link in the signature
    - Running referral competitions with nice prizes ($40 reptile store vouchers)
    - Offering incentives to join (I've got a reptile food company offering 10% off certain products to my members)
    - I've got a few shops with my leaflets on their counter
    - I've also get a reptile vet which is willing to do the same once I get some more leaflets printed up
    - I've got a couple of fake accounts set up to ask questions/increase content

Can anybody else suggest any other ideas? By the way, no suggestions of forum posting/exchange, I haven't been able to find anybody who can write at the quality I require.

Ps - The url is: http://www.exotic-pets.eu/forum

What is number of users on diffrent forums you mentioned?

If it is niche then you should try SEO on "exotic pets forum" without much work you should get high easily.

You could try adding or starting a blog targeting the most popular keywords of your niche, and obviously having your blog link to your forum...
