Need Help installing OS

  1. #1
    i am formatting my entire hard disk and would like to install two OS.
    one windows xp and the other any unix based may be ubuntu:)

    is it possible to install both these in a single drive partition....:confused:
    is there any step by step guide for this on net?

    Some software allows you to install ubuntu to a NTFS partition. You can find out more on google

    Vmware allow you to run linux in virture environment . Search "vmware" to know more about it .
    However if you want to install both windows and linux in one hard drive . I don't think it is possible .

    As far as I know you might not be able to install in the same partition...but hey My knowledge is not guaranteed accurate, try google, always helps :D

    Your best option would be to install a virtual machine like Vmware I belive Vmplayer is free is very easy and you dont have to mess with your boot partition becoming corrupted or so.

    Yes it is. You just need to create 2 partitions and install XP on 1 + ubuntu on the other. Then whenever you boot your PC you will be able to select which OS to boot in to.

    First af all , while installing XP make two partitions of the hard disks . Then by using MS dos Prompt , install your next OS , on the second partion & thus you are done .
