Need help in monetizing a website 10000 uniques/day

Hi all,

I have a technology related website (networking tools, articles, software, forum etc.) with approx. 8000 uniques. Age is 8 years and PR is 5.

Actually I haven't made extra efforts in monetizing it, and its annual revenue is poor (~$4000 in Adsense and tiny amount in paid ads). What are the possible options on monetizing this website's traffic?

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

10k uniques per day is serious traffic. Assuming an avg. 4 page views per visitor, it would be having 40 k page views. Just with adsense on all pages and 2% click through you would be getting 800 clicks. Around 15 cents per clicks would mean 120 USD per day which is $3600 per month. That is, you are only earning around 10% of your potential!

Now compare this with your actual stats and see where you are lacking.

 

The problem is the users actually come to my site for the tools and CTR can't be higher than 1% (and it's a best CTR). Another bad thing is a big amount of returning visitors who are not likely to click the ads.

 

try affiliate marketing... there are a lot of tech sites converting this way

 

With that much traffic, you can generate thousands more a year by going with CPM ads.

What you should try with that much of traffic is actually CPM advertising which is provided by Casale Media, value Click and Tribal Fusion.

 

Adsense + Afilliates .....that's the best combination

 

As far as I know CPM pays $3/1000 and it is considered good. But, actually, that's pennies.

 

Affiliate Marketing is definately the best way to go for your kind of traffic! Lots of money in that business...
