I bought a wordpress site and he sent me a MySQL database backup. Unfortunately, i don't know how to upload the backup. Are there any thing I have to change in the database file for it to work on my wordpress site? Any help would be appreciated.
If it is an sql file, you will need to go into phpmyadmin in the cpanel and upload it from there. It should say where you should upload it to. Also, if it is an xml file, you will go to tools --> upload in the wordpress admin.
Ok, i imported the sql and have all the posts and comments in my wordpress dashboard. When i go to my url the page is blank and i get a 404 if i try to go to my posts. What can i do to fix this?
Are your permalinks the same as they were in the last blog? Has anything in the permalink changed? If it the domain name, then you will have to go into the file itself and do a find/replace (you can find tutorials on Google). Other than that make sure your permalink structure is exactly the same as it was in the other blog.
check your permalink structure,and if that is ok then there is a file called .htaccess in root folder of your site,open it and edit it accordingly to your wordpress config,you can find the content to be pasted in your .htaccess file in permalink section
