Need Help (GIMP)

Hello. I need to learn how I can make images look like they have been faded. I don't know exactly what this is called. However here is a picture of it:

The top one is the origonal picture, and the bottom one is the faded one. How would I be able to do this in GIMP?

    Thanks,
    BlueEew.

Just change the opacity of the layer where the image is on. To do this go the to the layers dialog (dialogs -> layers). Then select the layer with the image. Now change the opacity from 100% to a lower number like 60% or something.

you'll have to lower teh opaqueness but I don't know where to find it in gimp. I guess it will be somewhere in the layerbox
